7 yummy plates to try from YO! Sushi Tampa

29850072-sfxl

Looking for a fun, new sushi experience in Tampa? Look no further, as YO! Sushi offers many great sushi plates at a low, affordable cost, all while being served on a conveyer belt! Here are some of their best options.

1. The Ginza Roll

What’s better than sushi? Nothing! Just kidding, but all jokes aside the Ginza Roll is a classic roll with fresh salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber inside topped with a bit of caviar, teriyaki, sriracha and mayo.

2. Salmon Steam Bun

This Salmon Steamed Bun was a personal favorite among Foodie members! This plate included house-pickled red onions and kimchi marinated salmon all stuffed inside a soft Hirata bun.

3. Takoyaki

A native favorite! Octopus filled dough balls, topped with mayonnaise, bonito, and their pickled red onions.

4. Garlic Ramen

The Sesame Garlic Ramen literally speaks for itself- yummy sesame broth filled with ramen and topped with scallions, nori, garlic sesame oil and more!

5. Poke Bowl

The Poke Bowls are one of the newest additions to the YO! Sushi menu. You can choose from three different types: chicken, tuna, and tofu. These plates are also filled with sesame oil, house-pickled red onions, and more!

6. Chicken Katsu

The Chicken Katsu was one of my personal favorites as I am a HUGE chicken fan! This plate included a juicy chicken thigh lightly breaded with a Japanese panko and topped with a delicious fruity tonkatsu sauce.

7. Spicy Seafood Udon

Last but certainly not least, the Spicy Seafood Udon Noodle! This delicious bowl was filled with shrimp, salmon, squid and veggies inside of a spicy kimchi broth served with your choice of udon noodles or rice.

Sunny Pizza opens across from USF near Boba House

The Foodies Club stopped by Sunny Pizza yesterday for a quick bite to eat. They recently opened next to the International “Boba House” on University Square Drive just minutes from campus and are accessible by the USF Bull Runner Route D.

We ordered two San Francisco sourdough slices. The sourdough gives the crust an extra sour tastes that is reminiscent of a bread bowl. The cheese and toppings featured quality ingredients and you can taste that they use fresh tomatoes in their base instead of typical marinara.

We also ordered a Jarritos Mandarin Soda. The total with the two slices was just $4.10 and Sunny’s currently has a deal for $1 slices as well as College Specials and delivers.

Sunny Pizza will be sponsoring us for our upcoming Foodies Club Meeting. Don’t miss it on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 from 5:45PM-7:15PM in MSC3709.

Foodies Club FIRST Social @ Graffiti Junktion USF

Graffiti Junktion is a new burger bar that recently opened just minutes from USF on 56th Street. When we first checked it out during their soft opening, we just knew we had to have an event there…our first event for the Foodies Club at USF! The inside of Graffiti Junktion is awesome with designs covering all the walls. Sports fans can also enjoy watching the game on the various TVs spread around the restaurant and bar.

Specializing in burgers with names such as Iron City (Canadian bacon, egg, fries, American cheese, and onions) and Brotherly Love (peppers, onions, mushrooms, and provolone), most burgers are $10-$12 and served with french fries and are made fresh, never frozen. Wraps are also available for meat-conscious diners. Specials are held everyday of the week with Trivia Night Tuesdays and 1/2 off Appetizers Fridays from 4PM-7PM being two things that particularly caught our eyes.

Graffiti Junktion provided our members with complimentary samples of their Brotherly Love and Lone Star burgers, Graffiti wings, Turkey Graffito Wrap, Macho Nachos, and Zucchini Fries. Members were also able to order additional items at a 20% discount during our social. Some of the things members tried included the Buffalo Chicken Tots, Chili Cheese Fries, and Chocolate Cake.

g2

Our event was held in a private back room that can be rented for private parties or catering functions. Two dart rooms were available for play in the private room and the main stage setup is not too far from it as well. Music can also be played in the room or turned off depending on whether you are having a meeting or social function.

The management and staff were very friendly towards our group and we especially loved our waitress who handled our party that was moving around the room very well and who consistently made sure that we were having a positive experience.

g3 g4

g6 g7

Our members used the hashtag #BullsLoveGraffiti to promote the event on Twitter and Instagram and to share their photos and feedback. On Twitter our tweets reached 7,167 people and 99,026 Twitter Timelines. See a full Twitter report on Hashtracking. See another report on Keyhole.

We had a blast Graffiti Junktion USF and our members really enjoyed the food. The proximity of Graffiti to USF makes it a great contender for specials events and the assorted specials make it friendly towards college students. College students can also take comfort in the fact that Graffiti Junktion is open late from Monday-Sunday until 2AM.

Make sure to call ahead to make sure the kitchen is still open if you want to order food as the closing hours in the kitchen vary.

We are truly wishing Graffiti Junktion the best of luck at USF and hope everyone goes out to try them and give them a shot! We will be back soon!

Cassie’s Cookies is a local bakery and vendor at farmer’s markets around Tampa Bay. You cannot get more local than that! Their cookies are made by hand in small batches. Some are vegan, some are gluten free, and others are traditional. They all look amazing and taste even better. You won’t taste fillers, preservatives, or anything else that gives cookies a bad name.

See you from 5:00PM-6:30PM in Marshall Student Center Room 3705!
