Dining @ Cilantro Indian Restaurant. Garba Raas tonight!

Last night after a quick meeting, the Foodies Club checked out Cilantro Indian Cuisine on 56th Street just a few minutes from campus. Cilantro has a variety of Indian dishes. Some of the dishes we ordered included Butter Chicken (pictured below), Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, and Chicken Sag. For bread we ordered the Garlic Naan, Traditional Naan, and Chile Naan. For those of you that don’t know Naan bread is normally dipped in various Indian foods that you order. It’s delicious and helps fill you up. The food was tasty and a nice way to finish up the night.

Most dishes at Cilantro range from $10-$20 for dinner, but USF students with IDs will receive 15% off their order at the end of the meal and they also offer a lunch buffet that is $7.99 for students (date varies so call ahead). Cilantro is also able to host parties and private events, there was one happening during our visit just as an FYI if you love Indian food and are looking for an event to have.

Check out the Lechon Bros food blog!

We at the Foodies Club pride ourselves on our members being active in the food community and supporting local businesses. Two of our members (and officers in training) started their own food blog recently called Lechon Bros. They love food including restaurants and cooking, expect lots of great posts from them. If you want to learn how to make a food blog or blogging in general, don’t worry we have some things planned this year to help you get started.

Here are two of their first posts:

PAO Cafe: A new Filipino restaurant in Lake Magdalene/Carrollwood area that also serves Asian Fusion cuisine and comes from the PAO Filipino Food Truck.

Soul of Korea: An unassuming mom-and-pop Korean restaurant on 56th Street between University and Temple Terrace that serves quality Korean food at an affordable place.

You can check out their full website at: http://lechonbros.com. Like them on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/LechonBros

Foodies Club at USF FIRST Meeting! 9/25

USF Foodies! The FIRST Foodies Club at USF meeting is Thursday, September 25th, 2014 from 5:00PM-6:30PM in Marshall Student Center Room 3705.

Come to the first meeting and meet the officers, get an update on our upcoming social on Monday, September 29th, 2014 at Graffiti Junktion USF, and finally grab some FOOD courtesy of our food sponsors: Michelle Faedo’s On-The-Go and Cassie’s Cookies. We will also have music giveaways courtesy of RED Distribution, a Sony Music Entertainment arm. Shoutout to Carlos Eats for helping us get things setup for this meeting.

Michelle Faedo’s On The Go is an award-winning food truck that serves authentic Cuban sandwiches and deviled crab. Michelle Faedo has won the National Cuban Sandwich Festival multiple times and has been invited in the past to the World Food Championships in Las Vegas.

Cassie’s Cookies is a local bakery and vendor at farmer’s markets around Tampa Bay. You cannot get more local than that! Their cookies are made by hand in small batches. Some are vegan, some are gluten free, and others are traditional. They all look amazing and taste even better. You won’t taste fillers, preservatives, or anything else that gives cookies a bad name.

See you from 5:00PM-6:30PM in Marshall Student Center Room 3705!
